Why Sanctuary?

  • Thoughtful Design & Craftsmanship

We exist to build spaces that nurture the human spirit. We consider how spaces look, feel, sound, and function.

  • Healthier Spaces

We offer more sustainable materials and building practices. This means cleaner air, more natural light, and non-toxic materials. We are Passive House Certified.

  • Transparency

We approach our projects with transparency on costs and true project timelines/updates.

Who we are

We are a small team of builders, designers, and dreamers who simply love to create. Our backgrounds are rooted in both the creative and the technical, a blend of design intuition and engineering precision. And our joy comes from the process of turning ideas into physical form.

Craftsmanship to us is a form of stewardship - a way to care for what we’ve been given by creating responsibly and giving back to the community that supports us. We build with respect for the people we serve, the land we build on and the resources we’re entrusted with.

  • We champion relationships. We build trust between clients, partners, and teammates with kindness, compassion, humility, and forgiveness.

  • We speak up early, listen to understand, embrace hard conversations, and speak the truth in love.

  • We do what we say we’ll do and take full responsibility for outcomes. We choose what’s right over what’s easy.

  • Clarity means everyone knows what’s happening, what’s expected, and why it matters. It builds trust, sharpens focus, and keeps everyone moving in the same direction.

  • We believe in what we are building. We never cut corners. There is no substitute for doing something well, and right the first time. We take pride in details, putting in the time and effort to deliver work we are proud of.

  • We welcome challenges as opportunities to learn, improve, and adapt.

Our story

We’re a husband and wife team passionate about building uplifting spaces. Sanctuary is the culmination of our strengths, our love for design, and our shared vision of serving others through meaningful work.

Zac has been building forts since he could hold a hammer. His childhood was spent trying to make each fort better than the last and is now blessed to be able to do the same thing as an adult.

His professional background is in product design and engineering. Building ADUs brings together two things he loves - the intuitive beauty of design, and the technical precision of engineering.

April’s background is in healthcare, where she worked in physical therapy and supported people through healing and recovery. That experience shaped her people-centered approach to business.

She later built a cosmetic tattooing business from the ground up, gaining firsthand experience in operations, client care, and running a service-based company.
